I really want to write every day for an entire month. However, I know it is going to be hard to think of something to write about every single day. But the idea is to make writing a habit again.
I am going to use the site http://nablopomo.blogher.com for hopefully some good prompts and to generate ideas.
Today the word that inspires me is commitment. I suppose it is what I feel should naturally come after a confession. A commitment to be better. A commitment to improve your self and your world. A commitment to overcome a bad habit.
To be perfectly honest, I feel that commitment is one thing that I am actually quite good at. I find it easy to follow through with what I say I am going to do. That’s not to say I am perfect at it because I do forget from time to time commitments such as phone dates (sorry Barbara!) but I suppose the type of commitment I am talking about it being committed to a person or a belief.
So the prompt from NaBloPoMo that I picked for today:
Is there a book that made you a better person?
If you know me at all, the obvious answer is yes. And most of you can probably guess what book I am referring to.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
The entire book is about commitment. Commitment to each other. Commitment to your marriage. Commitment to yourself. But above all else, commitment to God’s plan. And this book came to me at a time when God was telling me that he was tired of me being committed to everyone else and everything else (even though intentions were good). But He had something better for me and something more important for me to do. This book literally helped me to take of the old self and put on the new self. And it still seems that I have to recommit to it daily but its the commitment that has made all the difference.
And now that I am commitmed to God's plan, I am ready to commit to His gifts. I am commited to knowing my gifts fully and using them for His purpose. And it all starts here.
